Hybrid Solar Systems

A hybrid system is a combination of PV solar panels, an inverter, and an energy storage system to generate own electricity and provide backup power in the event of loadshedding and other outages. This setup enables cost savings (and even income from feeding-in) from self-generation and improved quality of life both when the sun is shining using PV and when it is not, using the energy stored in the battery.

Backup Systems

A backup system is a combination of batteries and an inverter. It provides backup power during loadshedding (power outage) and will recharge with grid electricity for when it is next needed. This setup is ideal for maintaining one’s quality of life (backup in the event of grid failure) and load shifting, whereby you use battery power during peak tariffs and recharge during off-peak tariffs.

Batteries

MiPOWA only supplies lithium batteries have been engineered to the highest standard. Whether it is Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) or Lithium-Ion, (LiFePO4 has a longer lifespan than lithium ion and more stable), at MiPOWA we ensure that we only supply the best quality from the top manufacturers in the world with highest product warranty. Some of the brands we carry include Sunsynk, SolarEdge, Pylontech, Sungrow, Huawei, etc. These batteries are capable of up to 80% depth of discharge with over 6,000 cycles.

PV Genset

Many large enterprises rely on generators to mitigate the effects of grid unreliability and are now increasingly using solar PV to reduce costs. MiPOWA provides best in class energy management system that is used to optimize the system as the diesel gensets capacity is limited (high fuel and maintenance costs) and the solar energy production is inconsistent. The system will use as much solar energy as possible to reduce costs. We are experienced with solutions from Fronius PV-Genset, ENcombi, Elum Energy, Huawei, etc.

Inverter Air Conditioner

An inverter is an energy saving technology that eliminates wasted operation in air conditioners by efficiently controlling motor speed. In inverter type air conditioners, temperature is adjusted by changing motor speed without turning the motor ON and OFF. Compared to non-inverter type air conditioners, air conditioners with inverters have less power loss which results in up to 70% energy savings, depending on the model. As part of its energy efficiency services, MiPOWA offers Samsung, LG, Jet-air, Hisense inverter air conditioners.

Solar PV Water Heating

With the increased frequencies in power outages (planned and unplanned), having hot water coming out of the taps is becoming a challenge. A more affordable solution to this problem is to use solar PV to heat water in the standard electric geyser (with AC heating element and AC thermostat), without the need for an inverter. This is good for those that need their hot water during sun hours. The system we implement can run completely off-grid, or with grid AC power as backup. MiPOWA trusts the Elon100 from Power Optimal.
